Waikato Regional Council decided to undertake and fully embrace a new ‘Activity Based’ means of working for all staff during the latter part of 2020. This meant the consolidation of several existing buildings into a brand new purpose built site in the heart of Hamilton.
Working directly with WRC, Project Manager Kevin Marsh and Project Integration Manager Karen Boyte, VIDAK were engaged to help provide ABW lockers and storage solutions for all staff as well as encouraging the new ways of working with Huddle soft seating collaboration booths, Escape high and low back meeting areas and touch down spots across all floors of the building in a combination of shapes and sizes.
Led by local Architects Chow:Hill Architects, the idea was to help bring the spaces to life with a variance of colour, reflective of the natural surroundings of the Waikato, particularly within the colour and texture of fabrics chosen by Chow:Hill.
The result was a fresh and calming environment; soft seating and booths have quickly become areas frequented by all staff for a variety of purposes which are accented by bespoke lighting and flooring designs to mirror the aesthetic elements of sea and sky.
