The Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE) embarked on an accommodation consolidation into a new Wellington head office. This move to a large open atrium building enabled the adoption of open workplace design guidelines currently recommended to government agencies, including smaller work points, options for collaborative zones and secure conference and business centres.
Vidak was engaged as the soft fit out supplier to begin working with MBIE and their team to provide furniture design solutions and assist with the final plan layouts.
Each area needed to be broken into zones. Workstation areas required tech height adjustability with 10% sit to stand and integration of key accessories, screen acoustics, and bespoke changes to cable management. Hub areas needed a variety of collaborative settings, such as custom redesigned collaborative booths with integrated technology, booth seating with tables, and leaners. Ground floor business and conference centres required integration of these solutions in open spaces, with a feature look due to being in a high visibility zone.
